HASLab welcomes students from the 2019 Best Student programme at University of Minho

On December 19th, INESC TEC’s High-Assurance Software Laboratory (HASLab) welcomed six students from Braga, Guimarães, Santo Tirso and Terras de Bouro, who chose HASLab to discover and become familiar with the work of a researcher in the IT field. This event was part of the 2019 edition of the Best Student programme at UMinho.

On December 19th, INESC TEC’s High-Assurance Software Laboratory (HASLab) welcomed six students from Braga, Guimarães, Santo Tirso and Terras de Bouro, who chose HASLab to discover and become familiar with the work of a researcher in the IT field. This event was part of the 2019 edition of the Best Student programme at UMinho.

For one day, Marta, Carolina, José Luís, Francisco, João and Daniel – the students who were part of said programme and selected HASLab for their visit – had the opportunity to learn visual programming and text programming languages, as well as Java programming.

After some computer and programming basics, the researchers at HASLab Haskell Curry room (in charge of the activity in 2019) encouraged the students to solve different challenges with Robocode.

During the activity Having fun playing with code, the students also had the opportunity to visit the facilities of the IT Department at the University of Minho, as well as to meet HASLab researchers.

The Best Student Programme at UMinho is an initiative focused on high schools students of Braga, Viana do Castelo, Vila Real and Porto who obtained the best grades over the previous year.
