The Best Paper of ICSG 2018 is co-written by INESC TEC

A scientific paper based on the GaMDER project, which includes three partners from two countries – INESC TEC (Portugal), ITU and MAKEL (Turkey) – won the Best Paper Award at ICSG 2018 (the 6th International Istanbul Smart Grid Congress and Fair), on 25  and 26 April 2018.

From the idea to the patent

UPGRID project's final event was held in Madrid

The goal was achieved: four smart grids demonstrators were set in Europe until 2017: Bilbao (Spain), Lisbon (Portugal), Åmål (Sweden) and Gdynia (Poland). Three years later, the European project UPGRID ended and the final event was held on 21 February at Iberdrola headquarters in Madrid.

The European project SmartGuide (Defining Planning and Operation Guidelines for European Smart Distribution Systems), presented on the 25th and 26th of January the results to the development of tools to plan and operate smart electric networks.

Paper by INESC TEC researchers among the most popular in IEEE

In the scope of the work developed at the Centre for Power and Energy (CPES) of INESC TEC, João Peças Lopes, Administrator of INESC TEC and Professor at the Faculty of Engineering of University of Porto (FEUP), Carlos Moreira, also Professor at FEUP, and André Madureira, all researchers at CPES, are the authors of the article “Defining control strategies for MicroGrids islanded operation”, available at IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) Xplore Digtal Library.

The new European project in the area of energy systems is called FEEdBACK (Fostering Energy Efficiency and BehAvioural Change through ICT) and is led by INESC TEC. The kick-off meeting was held on 2 and 3 November in the city of Porto.
