INESC TEC researchers named best reviewers by prestigious IEEE Electrical Engineering Journals

The IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid (TSG) published a list of the best reviewers in 2019, which includes the names of two INESC TEC researchers. Mohammad Javadi and Mohamed Lotfi, from Centre for Power and Energy Systems (CPES), are among the top 70 reviewers, selected from thousands worldwide.

Four theses supervised by INESC TEC's researchers rewarded with REN Prizes

Not one, not two, not even three. Of the six prizes – worth EUR 85 000 – delivered at the 24th edition of the REN Prizes, four were awarded to Master theses in the field of energy under the supervision of INESC TEC's researchers. The ceremony took place in Lisbon on 9 December.

António Faria, a researcher of the Centre for Power and Energy Systems (CPES), was the winner of the APREN Prize of 2019 in an edition in which Ricardo Emanuel Silva, also from CPES, received an honourable mention as well.

The theme «Futuros mercados de energia elétrica» (in English «Future electric energy markets») led the researcher of INESC TEC’s Centre for Power and Energy Systems (CPES), Tiago Soares, to Brazil to teach a course, as a guest professor, at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais (Brazil).

INESC TEC participates in a European project for a greater integration of renewable energies

INESC TEC is part of a European project that gathers 12 institutions from six countries, aiming at developing technologies capable of improving the performance of forecasting systems for the production of renewable energy by at least 15%, and thus contributing to an increase of the integration of production of these energy sources.

INESC TEC receives “Best Conference Paper Award” in Vietnam

“Model Predictive Power Allocation for Hybrid Battery Balancing Systems” is the name of the scientific paper awarded at the “IEEE Vehicular Power and Propulsion 2019” (IEEEVPPC’2019) conference, which was developed by Professor Rui Araújo (INESC TEC) and Ricardo Castro, researcher at the DLR Institute of System Dynamics and Control. The conference was held in Hanoi, Vietnam, between 14 and 17 October.

Saving energy through games: INESC TEC is the first building to welcome ECOplay

ECOplay is the name of the mobile application that will enable users of three types of buildings from different countries to save energy. ECOplay, which was developed under the European project FEEdBACk, was launched at INESC TEC on 23 October and had a “full auditorium”.

The biggest European project led by a Portuguese entity has started

The European project InterConnect, the biggest project ever led by a Portuguese entity, has started. INESC TEC is responsible for the leadership of this EUR 36 million project, which has 51 partner institutions from 11 European countries and that aims at digitalising the power system.
