Description

Fibre dosimeters for in vitro and in vivo dosimetry in External Radiotherapy and Brachytherapy

The main goal of project FIBDOSE was to develop a sensing system based on optical fibres and radioluminescence processes, for measuring ionising radiation doses, in real time, in external radiotherapy and brachytherapy. The researchers were fully involved in the final optimisation and testing of a multipoint measuring configuration, aiming at three-dimensional patient dose assessment. The research and technology development project is coordinated by INESC TEC's Centre for Applied Photonics, in collaboration with the Cancer Research Centre of the Portuguese Institute of Oncology Francisco Gentil (IPO-Porto)
