Abstract
This letter proposes a new concept applied to state estimation based on replacing traditional regression models by a criterion of maximizing error correntropy introducing a novel way to identify and correct large errors.

Abstract
This paper presents the proof of concept for a new solution to the problem of recomposing missing information at the SCADA of energy/distribution management systems (EMS/DMS), through the use of offline trained autoencoders. These are neural networks with a special architecture, which allows them to store knowledge about a system in a nonlinear manifold characterized by their weights. Suitable algorithms may then recompose missing inputs (measurements). The paper shows that, trained with adequate information, autoencoders perform well in recomposing missing voltage and power values, and focuses on the particularly important application of inferring the topology of the network when information about switch status is absent. Examples with the IEEE RTS 24-bus network are presented to illustrate the concept and technique.

Abstract
This paper applies the concept of fuzzy controller to voltage/VAR control. Cascading Mamdani controllers are used together with sensitivities to keep voltages in an admissible band while avoiding line flows to exceed admissible limits. A small number of iteration steps with a Newton-Raphson power flow routine are enough to recover voltages into admissible bands.

Abstract
This paper describes a Load Allocation model to be used in a DMS environment. A process of rough allocation is initiated, based on information on actual measurements and on data about installed capacity and power and energy consumption at LV substations. This process generates a fuzzy load allocation, which is then corrected by a fuzzy state estimator procedure in order to generate a crisp power flow compatible set of load allocations, coherent with available real time measurements recorded in the SCADA.

METAHEURISTICS: COMPUTER DECISION-MAKING
Abstract
Most optimization and decision problems in power systems include integer or binary variables, leading to combinatorial problems. In this paper, several approaches using metaheuristics and genetic algorithms are presented that deal with real problems of the power industry Most of these methodologies are now implemented in distribution management systems (DMS) used by several utilities.

Abstract
In this paper we present a complete methodology to perform state estimation studies in distribution networks. Due to the peculiarities of these networks the traditional state estimation concept was enlarged in different ways. It includes a load allocation study, as a way to cope with the reduced number of real time measurements in SCADA database. The algorithm estimates binary values of topology variables, due to incomplete or erroneous topology information in the control center and it is able to include data modeled by fuzzy numbers as a way to include fuzzy results of the load allocation procedure or fuzzy assessments from experts. Finally, the paper describes a methodology developed to tune the weights to be used in the state estimation based on a Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy inference system. The paper includes a case study based in the IEEE 24 bus system to highlight and illustrate its application in a variety of situations.
