Abstract
CloudAnchor is a multiagent e-commerce platform which offers brokerage and resource trading services to Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) providers and consumers. The access to these services requires the prior negotiation of Service Level Agreements (SLA) between the parties. In particular, the brokerage SLA (bSLA), which is mandatory for a business to have access to the platform, specifies the brokerage fee the business will pay every time it successfully trades a resource within the platform. However, while the negotiation of the resource SLA (rSLA) includes the uptime of the service, the brokerage SLA was negotiated for an unspecified time span. Since the commercial relationship defined through the bSLA - between a business and the platform can be long lasting, it is essential for businesses to be able to renegotiate the bSLA terms, i.e., renegotiate the brokerage fee. To address this issue, we designed a bSLA renegotiation mechanism, which takes into account the duration of the bSLA as well as the past behaviour (trust) and success (transactions) of the business in the CloudAnchor platform. The results show that the implemented bSLA renegotiation mechanism privileges, first, the most reliable businesses, and, then, those with higher volume of transactions, ensuring that the most reliable businesses get the best brokerage fees and resource prices. The proposed renegotiation mechanism promotes the fulfilment of SLA by all parties and increases the satisfaction of the trustworthy businesses in the CloudAnchor platform.

Lecture Notes in Electrical Engineering

Abstract
This paper reports on the creation of an interface for 3D virtual environments, computer-aided design applications or computer games. Standard computer interfaces are bound to 2D surfaces, e.g., computer mouses, keyboards, touch pads or touch screens. The Smart Object is intended to provide the user with a 3D interface by using sensors that register movement (inertial measurement unit), touch (touch screen) and voice (microphone). The design and development process as well as the tests and results are presented in this paper. The Smart Object was developed by a team of four third-year engineering students from diverse scientific backgrounds and nationalities during one semester. © 2014 Springer International Publishing Switzerland.

Abstract
The European Project Semester (EPS) is a one semester capstone project/internship framework offered by the EPS providers to engineering, product design and business undergraduates. While a student-centred project-based learning offer, EPS proposes a unique multidisciplinary and multicultural teamwork set up to promote soft, technical and scientific competencies. In the spring of 2016, the EPS at the Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto (ISEP) welcomed a team of engineering students who chose to develop a sustainable water desalinator, the working principle relying on solar energy and natural temperature differences to convert saline water into fresh water. This paper describes the team's journey, including the motivation, the solution design process, considering the technical & scientific state of the art as well as the potential impact in terms of ethics, sustainability and marketing, and the development and testing of the prototype. The results obtained validate the purpose of the developed system since a significant reduction of the salt water conductivity, to values of the same order of magnitude of tap water, were observed. Although improvements can be made, the desalinator prototype produced 70 ml/d of distilled water in late spring and 7 ml/d in midwinter atmospheric conditions.

EUROPEAN JOURNAL OF ENGINEERING EDUCATION

Abstract
Current engineering education challenges require approaches that promote scientific, technical, design and complementary skills while fostering autonomy, innovation and responsibility. The European Project Semester (EPS) at Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto (ISEP) (EPS@ISEP) is a one semester project-based learning programme (30 European Credit Transfer Units (ECTU)) for engineering students from diverse scientific backgrounds and nationalities that intends to address these goals. The students, organised in multidisciplinary and multicultural teams, are challenged to solve real multidisciplinary problems during one semester. The EPS package, although on project development (20 ECTU), includes a series of complementary seminars aimed at fostering soft, project-related and engineering transversal skills (10 ECTU). Hence, the students enrolled in this programme improve their transversal skills and learn, together and with the team of supervisors, subjects distinct from their core training. This paper presents the structure, implementation and results of the EPS@ISEP that was created in 2011 to apply the best engineering practices and promote internationalisation and engineering education innovation at ISEP.

RECENT ADVANCES IN INFORMATION SYSTEMS AND TECHNOLOGIES, VOL 2

Abstract
TourismShare is a context-aware recommendation platform that allows tourists to share private locations and videos and obtain recommendations regarding potential Points of Interest (POI), including complementary articles and videos. The user experience is enhanced with the addition audio immersion during video playback and automatic recommendation features. The developed system consists of a distributed application comprising a front-end client module (Android application), which provides the user interface and consumes directly external support services, and the back-end server module, which includes the central database and recommendation service. The communication between the client and server modules is implemented by a dedicated application level protocol. The recommendations, which are based on the user context (user position, date and current time, past ratings and user activity level), are provide on request or automatically, whenever POI of great relevance to the user are found. The recommended POI are presented on a map, showing the timetable together with complementary articles and videos. The audio immersion at video playback time takes into account the weather conditions of the video recording and the user activity level.

Abstract
This paper presents the development process of a sustainable solution to grow aromatic plants in small houses. The solution is called The GreenHouse and is meant for people who live in small houses or city apartments and want fresh home grown aromatic plants, but have neither the time nor the space to grow them. The solution is intended to be sustainable and appropriate for people concerned with eating healthy, fresh food. The project was developed by a team of five students enrolled in the European Project Semester (EPS) at the Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto (ISEP) during the spring of 2017. EPS@ISEP is a project-based learning framework which aims to foster personal, teamwork and multidisciplinary problem-solving skills in engineering, business and product design students. Research and discussions within the team were done to develop the product. The existing solutions for growing fresh food in industrial and domestic applications as well as marketing, sustainability and ethical topics were researched and discussed. This way it was possible to define the requirements of The GreenHouse. The GreenHouse is semi-automatic and requires little interaction from the customer. It has two covers, a winter cover and a summer cover, to be changed depending on the season and weather. Solar energy and rainwater are used to enable the growth of aromatic plants, making this a sustainable system. The support is adaptable and made to fit different support sizes so it can be hanged on balconies or windows. © 2017 Association for Computing Machinery.
