Journal of Open Innovation: Technology, Market, and Complexity

Abstract
This study aimed to explore the diversity of open-innovation practices that are adopted in Portuguese SMEs considering the outside-in, inside-out, and coupled paradigms. A quantitative study was carried out considering a sample of 187 Portuguese SMEs. The findings revealed that these organizations favored the adoption of the outside-in paradigm. The inside-out model was the least relevant, especially for smaller companies (i.e., small and micro-companies). The most adopted outside-in practices were the integration of external knowledge from suppliers and clients; in the inside-out model, licensing processes were more important; while in the coupled model, joint ventures and network consortiums stood out. The increase in the innovation capacity of these organizations was highlighted as the most relevant benefit, while the lack of resources and difficulties in integrating knowledge emerged as challenges. This study is especially relevant for the establishment of public-support policies that promote the involvement of Portuguese SMEs in open-innovation processes. © 2021 by the author. Exploring the Effects of GDPR on the User Experience

Journal of Information Systems Engineering and Management

Abstract
With the implementation of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in the European Union, companies must be able to ensure that applications requesting the user to record personal data inform the user of the purpose for which the data collected is being collected. Furthermore, it is also necessary to ensure the data owner has given his/her explicit consent to the collection of these data and that such consent is recorded. This imperative has required a reworking of the interfaces of the applications. In this sense, this study seeks to explore the policies and practices that are being followed by organizations in designing interfaces. Four case studies were considered in the development of this study to explore this phenomenon in the dimensions of pragmatic hedonic processes of interface design, approaches to collect consent, and how personal data is managed. Enlightening Tourism

Abstract
Tourism has been a fundamental pillar for the development of the Portuguese economy and has supported and stimulated new opportunities. However, for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the hospitality sector, and given their specific characteristics, there are no specific indicators to monitor sustainability, and they are only based on existing generic models such as ETIS, WTO, and Green Globe. Given the complexity of the indicators in these models and their comprehensive vision, it makes it difficult for hospitality SMEs that have limited resources to measure them. Consequently, it is important to focus their attention on the most relevant indicators for their activity. In this sense, this study is relevant in identifying the critical sustainability factors for Portuguese hospitality SMEs. In total, and after the synthesis and assessment of the various indicators, a total of 35 critical indicators were identified, distributed among the economic, social, sustainable management, and environmental dimensions.

Research Anthology on E-Commerce Adoption, Models, and Applications for Modern Business

Abstract
M-commerce is a fast-growing opportunity and is acting as an innovative lever for achieving the purpose of increasing sales while better interacting with the clients. Simultaneously, several emerging technologies have appeared in the market and promise to change the current m-commerce paradigm. Therefore, this chapter plans to explore a set of new trend technologies that can plan to build a more efficient relation between the consumer and the m-commerce platform. This study conducted surveys with several market players like marketers and IT leaders to understand their point of view, perceive the relevance and impact of these emergent technologies in m-commerce, identify resistance and challenge points to the proposed change, and look how to allow cohabitation between this new e-commerce paradigm and the traditional physical trade. The main novelty of this study is the inclusion of multiple points of view on the evolution of m-commerce which will allow companies and citizens to perceive the impact of emerging technologies in the future of m-commerce.

Research Anthology on Decision Support Systems and Decision Management in Healthcare, Business, and Engineering

Abstract
The use of agile methodologies like SCRUM is seen by companies in the software engineering field as a strategic necessity for their competitiveness, which makes them more reactive and dynamic in an increasingly demanding and competitive international market. One of the critical factors in the implementation of a SCRUM environment is the set-up of teams that are simultaneously homogeneous and composed of the best collaborators for each SCRUM role. In this sense, this study describes the modeling process and presents the implementation of a decision support system that can contribute to improving the process of assigning an agile team simultaneously considering the technical and social skills of employees. The results of the study allowed testing the application considering different competencies associated to each Agile position, the impact that the attribution process suffers from oscillations in the process of evaluation and self-evaluation, and the impact in terms of the performance of the inclusion of new collaborators and criteria comparison. © 2021, IGI Global.

Journal of Management and Business Education

Abstract
Entrepreneurship education aims to contribute to the emergence of innovative skills, abilities, and competencies in people, in the most diverse sectors and branches of activity of contemporary society, regardless of the intention to establish a new start-up. This study explores the development of entrepreneurial competencies, intentions and attitudes offered by a higher education institution through the adoption of the eValueComp assessment tool. It offers significant contributions to the business education field particularly aimed at higher education professors who intend to place the student in a more active position and provide an entrepreneurial education, which will be useful for their future professional career. The findings revealed a significant increase of entrepreneurial competencies, general entrepreneurial attitudes, and perception of entrepreneurial feasibility. However, entrepreneurial intentions have evolved only marginally. Furthermore, the age and number of years of professional experience are two correlated factors that contribute to students having a greater perception of the risks associated with the entrepreneurship process.
