12th Intelligent Systems Applications to Power Systems Conference and Debate (ISAP 2015)

Intelligent tools in power systems: is this an objective, a tool, a vision or a dream?

It is now clear that what we call “intelligent systems” is no longer a narrow band of specialized techniques but a multidisciplinary construct. The power systems community must build high-speed bridges with other communities, to evolve.

The complexity of the problems addressed in the power industry, can it be addressed in any other way? Is it true that the smart grids is communications and computer science, with power and energy as a collateral effect?

This must be discussed, and ISAP is the adequate forum.

Welcome therefore to the ISAP 2015 Conference and Debate, organized by INESC TEC and the ISAP Society.

ISAP is a well-established forum of scientific and technical discussion, aiming at fostering the widespread application of intelligent tools and techniques to the power system network and business. At the same time, ISAP collects from the industrial experience the demanding challenges that push forward new research and eventually new solutions.

INESC TEC is an R&D institute whose mission is to act as interface between the Academia and the Industry, promoting the full range of activities from knowledge generation to technology transfer and valorization. At INESC TEC two research centers are leaders in both areas encompassed by ISAP: CPES, the Centre for Power and Energy Systems, and LIAAD, the Laboratory for Artificial Intelligence and Decision Aid. There is thus a perfect matching between the expertise of INESC TEC and the areas of concern of ISAP.
