USIC Soft Meetings - "Social Software for Music"

The project "Social Software for Music" is part of a larger one, entitled Palco 3.0, resulting of a joint cooperation between the company Palco Principal and INESC Porto.
The main motivation for this project was the improvement of the platform Palco Principal. Palco already provides many useful features, however the company would like to improve three essential areas: music classification, recommendation and events. Also an overview and comparison with other similar systems would be useful in order to understand what are the users' needs and which features are most relevant for them.

Cláudio Costa is a student of the Master in Informatics and Computation Engineering, at FEUP and this is his final graduation project. He was born in 1985 in Vila Nova de Famalicão, began his degree in FEUP in 2003 and studied and lived between 2007 and 2008 in Ghent (Belgium) for one academic year, under the Erasmus student exchange programme. In Belgium he was able to work for a short period at Netlog, one of the most popular social networks in Central Europe. Some of his hobbies are playing tennis and travelling, which he has been doing more frequently since 2006, also due to his involvement with several international non-profit student organizations.
