INNOVATION VISION 2020: FROM REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT SUSTAINABILITY TO GLOBAL ECONOMIC GROWTH, VOL I-VI

Abstract
In recent years the agri-food sector has suffered a series of changes that lead to a driving need for an inclusion of ICT and Information Systems in their production and business processes. One of the agri-food sector entities that has introduced a complex set of technologies and IS in their processes was the mushrooms farms, mainly due to the urging need to control all the variables inherent to the mushroom but also to the surrounding environment. With this paper we aim to present a proposal for an amplified sensing system, composed by a set of wireless sensing nodes with the ability to control environmental indicators, which could act as a complement to a process control system. The Sousacamp Group was used, as case study, to not only identify the environmental indicators that needed to be sensed but also to test an initial version of the proposed system.

2015 10TH IBERIAN CONFERENCE ON INFORMATION SYSTEMS AND TECHNOLOGIES (CISTI)

Abstract
The current level of technological evolution and the mass use of social networks sites (SNS), both by individual users and by organizations, brings to light a window of opportunity for the use of these technologies in educational activities. By analysing the existing scientific literature that focus on the adoption of SNS both at individual and organizational level, we were able to identify a gap with regard to the use of these technologies for educational purposes, making room to the need of creating a global perspective on the phenomenon through a systematic literature review. In this article we present a global characterization on the adoption of SNS for educational activities, and for that we addressed not only the perspective of educational institutions, but also the perspective of both students and teachers. Some final thoughts on future work are also presented in the final section of the article.

Abstract
The agri-food organizations evolution, and its inherent need for well supported decision making, has led to an increase on the integration of IT/IS into their business and operational processes. With this in mind, an analysis was performed to the use of systems designed to support business decisions, thus allowing to acknowledge that there was none that answered to the needs inherent to organization from the mushroom production sector. This led to the definition and implementation of a DSS system, with the necessary features and qualities, which would help the mentioned activity sector needs. This DSS was designed and tested in a real environment through the implementation of a case study within a eatable mushrooms production company named "Sousacamp Group". With the implementation of the proposed DSS, the referred business group has reported an increased in their performance levels and decision making accuracy.

METHODOLOGIES AND INTELLIGENT SYSTEMS FOR TECHNOLOGY ENHANCED LEARNING

Abstract
The aim of this paper is to present a new approach in user modeling process that use learning and cognitive styles and student emotional state to adapt the user interface, learning content and context. The model is based on a constructivist approach, assessing the user knowledge and presenting contents and activities adapted to the emotional characteristics, learning and cognitive styles of the student. The intelligent behavior of such platform depends on the existence of a tentative description of the student - the student model. The contents of this model and emotional state of the student are used by a domain and interaction model to select the most suitable response to student actions.

EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY & SOCIETY

Abstract
3D Virtual Worlds are being used for education and training purposes in a cross-disciplinary way. However, its widespread adoption, particularly in formal learning contexts, is far from being a reality due a broad range of technological challenges. In this reflection paper, our main goal is to argue why and how identity federation should be discussed and adopted as a solution to several barriers that educators and institutions face when using Virtual Worlds. By presenting a clear set of scenarios within different dimensions of the educational process, as classroom management, content reuse, learning analytics, accessibility, and research, we consider identity, traceability, privacy, accountability, and interoperability as main concerns in order to support our argument. Finally, we conclude the paper by presenting paths to a proposal for a workable solution, through the analysis and reflection of different and current efforts that has been made by other teams, towards future technological developments.

NEW CONTRIBUTIONS IN INFORMATION SYSTEMS AND TECHNOLOGIES, VOL 1, PT 1

Abstract
In the last decade, companies tend to become virtualized. This virtualization is due in large part to developments in the use of mobile platforms and the impact on their infrastructure. The concept of BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) adoption and use of cloud computing are having profound implications for how the technologies are being used, as well as the interaction between individuals and these technologies. In this context, we conducted a study based on a questionnaire about the impact of the use of mobile devices and the cloud in organizations, taking into consideration their use in performing professional and personal tasks. With the questionnaire and its subsequent analysis it was found that organizations have a lack of understanding about almost all of the implications and consequences of the use of mobile devices and the cloud.
