COLLABORATIVE NETWORKS FOR A SUSTAINABLE WORLD

Abstract
This paper describes an approach to the design of performance management models in collaborative networks, from a constructivist approach. The general approach is outlined and the part concerning a multi-criteria decision support method is explained. The paper finishes with an illustration of a scenario for test and validation of the method.

ON THE MOVE TO MEANINGFUL INTERNET SYSTEMS: OTM 2009 WORKSHOPS

Abstract
Current knowledge about the early phases of ontology construction is insufficient to support methods and techniques for a collaborative construction of a conceptualization. Following an approach inspired in cognitive semantics, the application and extension of the Conceptual Blending Theory (CBT) to the realm of collaborative semantic tools is proposed. A formal framework is presented together with some examples in the collaborative networks context. A collaborative semantic architecture is presented. This architecture supports the two components of the proposed method: collective conceptualization and consensus reaching.

LEVERAGING KNOWLEDGE FOR INNOVATION IN COLLABORATIVE NETWORKS

Abstract
This paper presents our method to support the collaborative conceptualisation process focusing our strategy for building consensus in the context of collaborative networks. This new strategy comes from the application of the results and recommendations obtained in an experimental evaluation performed in the scope of a large European project in the area of industrial engineering. The usage of our strategy and the collaborative platform supporting semantic consensus building in the scope of the European research project H-Know is described.

Establishing the Foundation of Collaborative Networks

Abstract
This paper aims at presenting the preliminary results of a research work that seeks to understand the users' response to semantic based technologies, in the context of enterprise sponsored virtual communities. The research follows a qualitative methodology based on an action research approach. It particularly focuses on the socio-cognitive processes that underlie users' learning and acquisition methods when training and interacting with a new knowledge management approach bayed on semantically enabled technologies in a collaborative, and sometimes virtual, learning/working environment. The outcomes of this research are expected to provide an assessment framework for a deeper level understanding of the cognition process in what concerns the evolution of individuals knowledge, opinions, beliefs, and thoughts about ontology based systems.

INNOVATION IN MANUFACTURING NETWORKS

Abstract
Ontologies are a technological key factor regarding the knowledge management domain. This paper presents a graphical-based knowledge representation approach using concept maps towards creating a formal work organization ontology, which was translated into a Content Management System in order to manage the work design information. Some aspects related with the advantages of visual approaches for collaborative development of ontologies are discussed.

Knowledge and Process Management

Abstract
Many organizations depend on the success of rapidly deployed, limited time frame and multipartner projects as an important element of their business strategies. Information management is regarded as a critical and upmost important issue, especially in projects. Complex projects require additional team collaboration and a consistent information management strategy to support the development of the project. This paper reports the findings of an exploratory study on information management barriers in complex projects, particularly focusing issues and difficulties recognized by project participants and managers. Our study intends to fill the gap in empirical research regarding this subject and to provide new insights for project managers of complex projects to devise more effective information management strategies and tools to set up and run information technology platforms. © 2012 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
