COLLABORATIVE SYSTEMS FOR SMART NETWORKED ENVIRONMENTS

Abstract
The IFIP WG 5.5 Working Conferences on Virtual Enterprises (PRO-VE) has created, in 14 editions, a remarkable scientific and professional community intersecting several disciplines and resulting in a new one: collaborative networks. In this paper we present the results of a retrospective study of the conceptual system evolution of PRO-VE providing an instrument to reflect about the field's past and future. Our approach was socio-semantic trying to devise the influence between the researchers social network and the evolution of the conceptual system. Firstly, we made a terminological analysis of every PRO-VE proceeding resulting in a picture of the main concepts used in each edition and their relative importance. Then, we used social network analysis techniques to conclude about the influence of the researchers on the conceptual system evolution. The results suggest a relatively stable set of concepts influenced by a network of core researchers. However, some marked evolution in the relative importance of the concepts can be identified.

COLLABORATION IN A DATA-RICH WORLD

Abstract
Due to growing concerns with sustainability issues and the emergence of the Circular Economy (CE) paradigm, combined with recent technological changes and consequent increase in competitiveness, there is a pressing need to redefine the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) approach. PLM needs to incorporate aspects that would enable the shift to this paradigm, such as enhanced collection and evaluation of information coming from production processes, distribution, retail, consumers, and collaboration in an extended enterprise context, by implementing enabling technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and Big Data. This paper proposes a vision, based on the state of the art, for a CE enabled PLM, having the Portuguese footwear industry scenario as a reference. © IFIP International Federation for Information Processing 2017.

Global Business Expansion: Concepts, Methodologies, Tools, and Appl.

Abstract
The emergence of complex supply chains is one of the most important consequences of globalization. The management of these supply chains requires increased efforts by organizations that, on one hand, are increasingly pressured by customers in terms of service levels, on the other hand, must manage their suppliers from various locations and with different local requirements. In this context, an appropriate management of information flows is needed to create the adequate visibility level for managing supply chain risk. This chapter presents an overview on the concepts of risk management, visibility and information management in supply chains. This study proposes a conceptual framework for the selection of risk mitigation strategies in the supply chain and characterizes the external and internal information flows decision makers need to implement two categories of risk mitigation strategies: redundancy and flexibility. © 2018, IGI Global.

COLLABORATIVE NETWORKS OF COGNITIVE SYSTEMS

Abstract
Collaborative networks (CNs) of organizations are nowadays complex and intertwined compositions of technological, cognitive and social artifacts. The design of such compositions should be addressed as a socio-technical endeavor as a way to maximize the success probability. In despite of intensive research in this community, much has to be explored to achieve sound contributions to a design theory of CNs. In this paper, we make use of the context intervention -mechanism-outcome logic (CIMO-logic) as a way to improve the design propositions component of a CN design theory. Variations of the concept of "mechanism" are explored with the goal of making clearer the socio-technical perspective in the design propositions. This theoretical exploration is illustrated with a case of transforming an industrial business association (IBA) in a digital collaborative network.

Abstract
This thesis aims at contributing with new research at the intersection of the research fields of information management and supply chain risk management. Information is a fundamental element for an effective risk management in supply networks. In spite of this, research on how to use internal and external information for risk management decisions in supply networks is scarce. Therefore, this thesis main goal is to characterize information models used in supply networks and the supply chain risk management process in order to propose an aggregated model of internal and external information for risk management decision support in supply networks. This work is based on the Design Science paradigm, which will be applied through several research methods: systematic literature review to analyse the current state of the art on information management in supply networks; field research to analyse the influence of different information organisation models in the process of supply chain risk management and to develop an information model based (artifact); and action research to implement the artifact for the definition of risk mitigation strategies in aeronautic supply networks.
