Abstract
Regional museums are relatively recent museum structures that emerged in the late 19th century after universal exhibitions. They are museums specifically dedicated to the representation of a given population in a specific territorial context, highlighting the fundamental traits that characterize the nature and essence of that community, differentiating it from others. In northern Portugal, law no. 125/97, created the Douro Museum, a territory museum that represents the natural and cultural heritage of the demarcated Douro region, the first demarcated and regulated region of the world, in 1756, by Marques de Pombal, extending over an area of of 250,000 ha, between Barqueiros and Barca d’Alva along the Douro River and its tributaries. The museum has a “polynuclear structure distributed throughout the Douro region, based in Peso da Régua” (art. 2), serving as an element for mobilizing tourists, mainly through its main temporary exhibitions, videos, etc. In an information society, characterized by the empowerment of citizens with regard to their ability to independently obtain information and, in the process, to leave their footprint, it is crucial to understand and anticipate their interests. In this way, the supply and responsiveness of tourism agents and regional actors will be increased, making them better able to decide for an offer better suited to the real interests of visitors and even enable to influence them. This article aims to know the profile of tourists/consumers through their online behavior, trying to understand what kind of information they are looking for, which keywords are most used and searched using the fundamentals of Data Analytics and using the Google Trends tool. Moreover, this study enables to better understand the connection between online search interests and the reality of the Douro Museum visitants. This approach is nowadays a major contribute to bridge the gap between visitors needs/interests and tourism player’s strategies definition, making Data Analytics a fundamental tool to enable decision support systems. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Abstract
Providing gerontological cares represents an increased challenge when applied to rural scenarios. This paper discusses the role of technology in gerontology and specifically how technology-based solutions can be developed to assist the elderly population in rural areas. We also characterize the Northeast Portuguese region exposing its rural characteristics and presented some demographic numbers. Finally, a conceptual model and a prototype supported by mobile devices are presented to assist and monitor the elderly and enhance business opportunities. The developed prototype allows not only to assist the elderly in a set of typical elderly population routines - such as those related to health - but also to improve the interaction between the elderly and their relatives and / or caregivers. This work is part of a more extensive effort that has been made in the search for effective solutions to assist the elderly population in rural areas, typically distant from the main health and / or support services; contributing to relieve these deficits. Abstract
The provision of gerontological care in rural areas represents an increased management challenge. Framed by the Portuguese Northeast reality, this paper reflects on the role and potential of pervasive and mobile computing in the management of gerontological care, specially in rural areas, explaining the potential of fusion between gerontology and technology and presents a conceptual model to frame it. Finally, it presents a software prototype developed for Android smartphones, capable of assist a gerontological care provider in some of their operational practices.

Abstract
Material heritage typically has a whole set of associated immaterial heritage, which is essential to pass on to the visitor as a cultural mission of the destinations and those who manage them. In this sense, the interpretation of material heritage is a complex process that is not a fully efficient process with the mere observation of physical artifacts. In this context, it emerges as fundamental to provide visitors with a set of tools that allow them to correctly interpret the artifacts that come to fully understand the cultural dimension of the destinations and their heritage. Accordingly, the role of virtual reality can leverage the creation of innovative and immersive solutions that allow the visitor to understand and feel part of their own heritage and its ancestral component that defines the sociocultural roots of destinations and their civilizational traditions. This article, after dissecting and substantiating the role of virtual reality in the interpretation of heritage, presents a conceptual model, based on the use of virtual reality, which was, in part, prototyped in the scenario of the Portuguese Museum in the city of Miranda do Douro. This proposal is an ongoing contribution to the creation of innovative and immersive tools for the interpretation of heritage. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

EDUCATION EXCELLENCE AND INNOVATION MANAGEMENT THROUGH VISION 2020
Abstract
Tourism and manly experience and cultural heritage tourism are growing in tourist's interests. Rural regions have an untapped potential for this slice of tourism industry. Also, rural regions have an enormous collection of ancestral knowledge. Unfortunately, all this knowledge typically is elders-centered and it lack effective processes of digitalization, storage and providing systems for that all this heritage can be perpetuated through future generations. From this base-thinking it was created a project case study limited to the Portuguese Northeast region, named Viv@vo - living in the grandma's house. This paper presents this project and what it has been achieved during the project development process.
