Abstract
The GReSBAS project (2016-2019) aims to enable the active participation of buildings in DR programs through gamified competition between building owners. In case of large buildings, gamified competition can be established within the building for its occupants, for instance having different floors of the building competing between them. This approach will allow building owners to reduce electricity costs and increase energy efficiency by motivating/rewarding building occupants for participating in DR programs. The concepts and tools developed under GReSBAS will be tested in two demonstration sites: a corporate building in Portugal and a residential building in Turkey. This paper presents the Portuguese demonstration site and describes how the energy consumption, temperature and building occupancy data will be collected, processed and used by the tools developed in GReSBAS.

Abstract
This work is within the scope of set of consultancy studies made for Portuguese islands. It focuses on the integration of Pumped Storage Power in isolated islands. The paper starts to address several power systems circumstances about two Portuguese islands on the energetic level. For each of these islands, an independent examination of the conditions to install a reversible hydro power plant is accomplished. Therefore, the energy volume to be stored due to excess of renewable generation and the ideal power and number of the pumps and turbines to be installed were identified and evaluated for the sake of using the produced energy surplus as to be pumped and later generated. The paper enhances the importance of storing energy in the operation of isolated and small systems with considerable amount of intermittent power resources as well as the conditions for the viability of installing new exploitations of this kind.

RENEWABLE ENERGY INTEGRATION WITH MINI/MICROGRID

Abstract
The main objective of this paper is to present a new and cost-effective Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tool that can lead to efficient energy management in buildings and optimal operation of electricity networks with increased share of Renewable Energy Sources (RES) and Electric Vehicles (EVs). The new ICT infrastructure is based on the Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) standard and its interoperability with smart metering technology, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and Building Automation Systems (BAS). The main idea involves the attachment of a DAB receiver to electric devices (from small household appliances up to EVs and solar systems and other RES). In this paper, the DAB protocol is described, enabling high cyber-physical security. Moreover, the results of addressing a thermostatically-controlled load using DAB-signaling in Switzerland are also presented. The next steps envisioned are i) the validation of the final protocol version and of the DAB receivers for various electric appliances and DR schemes and, ii) demonstration of the new technology in real-life cases through the National DAB broadcaster in Greece. Abstract
In order to avoid voltage problems derived from the connection of large amounts of renewable-based energy generation to distribution networks, new advanced tools need to be developed that are able to exploit the presence of Distributed Energy Resources (DER). This paper describes the approach proposed for a predictive voltage control algorithm to be used in LV distribution networks in order to make use of available flexibilities from domestic consumers via their Home Energy Management System (HEMS) and more traditional Distribution System Operator's (DSO's) resources, such as transformers with On-Load Tap Changer (OLTC) and storage devices. The proposed algorithm for the Low Voltage Control (LVC) is detailed in this paper. The algorithm was then tested through simulation using a representative Portuguese Low Voltage (LV) network in order to assess its performance in several future scenarios with different operating conditions. The future prospects for field-trial validation in a Portuguese smart grids pilot are also discussed.
