Blockchain in Collaborative Economy business models A comparative case study

Abstract
In the last decade, we have witnessed the emergence of a new socioeconomic paradigm related to Internet-based virtual communities that promote practices of sharing the use or consumption of products and services: the collaborative economy. Despite growing research on the most diverse areas of the collaborative economy, research on the integration of blockchain systems into collaborative economy organizations is still rather limited. By the present investigation, purely explanatory and based on a comparative and interpretive case study, we intend to verify the susceptibility of the blockchain systems to foster the emergence of new business models. Due to the small number of organizations in the collaborative economy currently operating with blockchain-based business models, it will be important in future investigations to identify and study the influence of these systems on the business models of other organizations, in particular whether their adoption represents a source of competitive advantage.

Abstract
The current study has as its objective to analyse how the study of languages is affected by new technologies. The way of teaching as well as the learning process are not the same as in older times, so we think that it is important to analyse the phenomenon. There are several advantages to the use of technology, and the future heralds even greater evolution. The effect of technologies on teaching has been very significant and even university professors resort to the usage of websites or other technological tools. The concept of innovation is not only associated to information and communication technologies, but also to the process and innovative supply of methods of access to knowledge. Therefore, associating innovation to the teaching of languages is something completely acceptable, since the usage of technological resources is a form of innovating. Because the final objective is to find a coherent response that indicates what is currently happening in the world of education concerning languages, primary data was obtained via a total of eleven interviews answered by young language students and professors. With this study, we conclude that technologies will continue to have an impact on the future of teaching. There is a general consensus concerning the relevance of obtaining better academic results. Therefore, it is necessary to recognize that learning becomes more facilitated with technology because there is easier access to information.

Abstract
Today’s society presents a fast development marked by the digital era, where the sharing, disclosure and access to information is made through information and communication technologies. The use of mobile applications is growing exponentially, spreading to the most varied social classes and everyday activity areas. Worldwide, its use in the most variety of services, has been increasing significantly. Given that, it is essential that mobile applications are accessible in a way that allows access conditions and equal opportunities to all the users. With this study we present indicators regarding the state of accessibility in mobile applications through the evaluation of five Portuguese public administration applications. The methodology used was a fully manual evaluation through a proposal of a model of evaluation divided by quantitative and qualitative requirements created by us, as well as the use of functionalities such as VoiceOver and TalkBack. Taking into account that the study initially proposed on accessibility in mobile applications is the first to be carried out in Portugal and one of the few currently worldwide, it is believed that its content may help, in some way, to raise awareness of the state of accessibility in the Portuguese mobile applications, to create measures that make these applications more accessible to all and that this work could be taken into account in future studies of the topic. © 2019, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Mobile Applications and Their Use in Language Learning

Abstract
It is undeniable that the world is taking a turn for the digital. Banking, shopping, working, education, entertainment, everything has its own digital equivalent or means thereof. This includes language learning. Nowadays, there is a myriad of (mobile and digital) possibilities to study, learn and improve a person’s knowledge of virtually any language. Thus, there should be potential benefits in their use in academic level (foreign) language learning, but also in an individual “self-learning" process. In this study, we choose to tackle mobile apps and their impact in the teaching/learning of languages, the perception of their usefulness and their impact (positive or otherwise) on the subject. To achieve this, a literature review on the subject was conducted, in addition to twenty interviews performed with students of the University of Aveiro. Supported by our literature review, we can safely state that language learning is just one of the many segments of both life and academia that can only be positively affected by digitalisation, and that we will continue seeing a rising trend towards that goal. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2019.

Process innovation supported by technology – Making for longer injury-free careers in the case of high performance musicians

Abstract
Technology and its widespread usage has dictated a far-reaching revolution in many domains, including in the teaching of music, as described in this study. Using technology (costing €150,000 for the cameras – MoCap – Qualisys AB, Sweden; and €150,000 for the system for analysis – Visual 3D software – C-Motion, USA) it was possible to predict that the duration of the career of a violinist supported by such tools – correcting one’s technique – may be prolonged significantly – as much as fifteen years or more. This approach may even mean the difference between being able to continue with one’s chosen profession or having to end it prematurely. Such technology may be applied to even the youngest of performers – aged 6 or 7 years old – a number of whose careers we suggest be followed to provide further support for our study. The correct placing of the left hand will help avoid injury and support a quicker evolution. Less time will be wasted, for better results. The musician will be more efficient, more flexible, and will have a more natural position and less musculoskeletal problems. The technology used compared the data and it was verified that for each chord there was an ideal height – corresponding to a more relaxed and natural position of the left hand when playing. One may represent the study’s findings as a model, as follows: OPIH (optimal performance and ideal height of the left hand) = function of {dimension of the instrument, length of the strings, dimension of the hand, dimension of the fingers}. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2019.

Planning a trip online: The Portuguese tourist [Planeamento online de uma viagem: O turista português]

Abstract
This study focuses on the impact of technology and on the planning of a trip by a Portuguese tourist. From the literature review, studies done at the European level, the technology inherent to tourism is provided to the entire age range, and fundamentally to the planning of accommodation, transport and tourist packs. The absorption of information is always highlighted by the easy and fast access to the Internet increasingly accessible to anyone, promoting behavioral changes in tourism planning. Thus, an online survey (with 180 valid answers) was carried out, which focused mainly on university students, and was restricted to Portuguese citizens. The survey determined that online platforms are most used for accommodation (87.2%), transportation (87,2%) and the demand for information (68.8%) to the detriment of catering (7.3%), and these are mainly being used because of their speed (79.4%) and simplicity (80.7%). To conclude, our study confirms the bibliographic review, and it was determined that practically all respondents assume the influence of digital platforms in the planning of their trips (99.1%), with 89% going further and affirming that in the future all planning will be carried out in an exclusive way online. © 2019 AISTI.
