Work description
The work plan will be developed in collaboration with INESC TEC's distributed systems group, and includes the following main tasks: Research in the areas of artificial intelligence and on optimizing the performance, energy efficiency, security and reliability of distributed systems, operating systems and storage systems. Applying the research carried out to solve challenges of cloud computing, advanced computing and biomedical research; Attracting and supervising new researchers and students (undergraduate, master's and doctoral); Preparation of national and international project proposals and participation in funded projects; Coordinating the group's international collaborations with other researchers, and establishing new collaborations.
Academic Qualifications
Informatics
Minimum profile required
- PhDs with little post-doctoral research experience or no post-doctoral scientific curriculum in the scientific area to which they are applying;- Research experience in machine learning / deep learning applied to cloud computing, advanced computing and biomedical areas;- Experience in optimizing the performance, energy efficiency, reliability and security of machine learning / deep learning solutions;- Scientific production (i.e. publications, prototypes, etc.) in the two previous topics;- Experience with Apache Spark, TensorFlow and Pytorch technologies;- Experience with secure processing technologies and techniques (e.g. Intel SGX, differential privacy) and cryptographic primitives (e.g. cryptographic ciphers).
Preference factors
- Participation, possibly including positions of responsibility, in research and development projects; - Guidance / supervision of other researchers; - Collaboration with other national and international researchers.
