Work description

INESC TEC – Institute for Systems and Computer Engineering, Technology and Science, a private research institution, is accepting applications to hire an Assistant Researcher with an open-ended contract to join the Center for Applied Photonics (CAP).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordinate and execute R&D and knowledge valorisation projects; design R&D&I project applications; manage and supervise teams and junior researchers; contribute with scientific production targeting international journals and conferences; join scientific and professional communities; coordinate and join scientific and technological dissemination initiatives - particularly in the specific disciplinary field of Photonics, focusing on optical sensor devices and systems based on planar optical waveguides and optical fibers, interferometry, plasmonics, and microfabrication.

Preference factors

a) Demonstrated ability to contribute original advancements to the state of the art in optical and photonic sensors for applications in environmental, industrial, and biomedical fields; b) Experience in leading or participating in research teams, particularly in the context of collaborative research projects, both national and international, as well as in submitting proposals to national and international funding entities for research, development, and innovation; c) Teaching and supervision experience with students on topics related to optical and photonic sensors at undergraduate and postgraduate levels; d) Experience in development and technology transfer activities aimed at achieving broad economic and social impact.
